I'm a Software Engineer from India who builds practical tools that solve real developer problems. I created markdowntoexcel.com because I kept running into the same frustration — I had Markdown tables in my documentation and READMEs that I needed in Excel, and there was no fast, free, privacy-respecting way to do it. Every tool I found either required a signup, charged money, or sent my data to a server. So I built one myself.
Why I Built This
It started as a personal script I used internally. Over time, colleagues and friends started asking for it too — developers exporting data from GitHub READMEs, project managers pulling Markdown tables into spreadsheets, analysts converting documentation into Excel for reporting. I realized this was a problem a lot of people had, and nobody had solved it well.
I decided to turn that script into a proper web tool — one that works entirely in the browser (no server, no uploads, complete privacy), supports all the edge cases developers actually encounter, and is completely free with no limits. That became markdowntoexcel.com. Since then, I've expanded it into a full suite of Markdown conversion tools covering Excel, HTML, CSV, PDF, Word, and more.
